The Commercial Sales department Intern will assist in selling and retaining employee benefits for businesses having 2 - 1,000 employees. The right candidate will receive an orientation to the Company and the health benefits industry, be exposed to a professional sales office and will learn the sales and retention process from product design, underwriting / pricing for appropriate risk to customer service and claims payment. Qualified candidate will interact with Account Executives, Account Managers and sales related departments. Intern will also have the ability to assist in important project work - such as competitive analysis, work flow process improvement.
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:
Projects dealing with such topics as:
Process improvement, e.g. Partner with the Process Expert to implement and measure process improvements related to migration.
Efficiency and performance management
Federal and State exchange approach development.
Develop solutions that affect business unit and / or enterprise results.
Perform support functions for group implementation.
Help prepare presentations
Develop reporting to help track/reconcile group migrations
Work with membership rosters and macro spreadsheets to reconcile membership
Customer service issue resolution
Exposure to fundamental actuarial and underwriting processes and pricing to enhance sales negotiation skills
The ideal candidate will have the following credentials:
Individual will be a junior enrolled in a BA / BS degree program in a Business related major or Liberal Arts field OR an MBA degree or related field.
Individual should possess strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
